Green Wires in Electric Motor

Hello, What you are looking at is varnish coated copper to keep the individual wires from shorting out on each other, acts like an insulation. The copper colored thing behind the wire in the picture should be a brass armature. hope this helps,, Mike

You were right on. I took a hacksaw, then the copper color started to show through. So, would something like this be #2 copper?
