    Take both front and back off. Cut off the cord for Insulated Copper. At some point, it may be easier just to break the plastic. In front, there'll be wiring, a switch (brass) and motor. In back will be the condenser and Aluminum/Copper Evaporator Coils. If you cut these you will release freon (technically - refrigerant). There are copper lines to the condenser. The Evaporator Coils can go as Copper/Aluminum or you can cut the fins from the copper tubes (I use a grinder for this - kind of over-kill, but it gets the job done). The copper tubes will be #2 Copper.
