    Dirty Brass or Not?

    Picked a platter up for $0.50. It weights about 3 pounds. Hit with my grinder and turns out to be brass. My question is around the edge of it is a fancy design thats stainless steel, its 1/2 inch wide, 2 nickels thick and I was wondering if that makes it dirty brass or not? Thanks Bruce
