I don't know either but if you could extract the gold from the 130 million cellphones thrown away a year you would pocket 182 million dollars.........thank you Gold Rush: Alaska.

They sell motherboards and memory on ebay in lots for the purpose of extracting gold, plus other metals I'm sure. But I haven't seen batteries. I was kinda surprised

Has anyone been able to find an answer to this question? I have a ton of cell phone batteries that I would love to be able to sell. I have 10 V3 Razr batteries and whole slew of batteries from various HTC Pocket PC smart phones.

The nickel in the batteries should be worth something, right?

Market right now for li-ion cell phone batteries is around $1.15/lb - several variables include shipping, market, volume, packing, etc

    Interesting thread

Hi, first post, been lurking for awhile but finally decided to jump in. I've been wondering about this very thing. I used to work for Goodwill Industries and we would collect a huge bin of cell phones and a fellow would come in and buy them all once a month. I wondered about the batteries. I've heard that this place will buy cell phone batteries. Can't vouch for it though. Interesting thread and nice to be here.

I'm buying Li-Ion batteries for $1.25 or more if you have a good amount of weight with the going market price.

From what I'm finding, that is a fairly standard price for cell phone batteries. What do you mean by good amount of weight? I probably have about 10lbs worth of lithium-ion batteries. Even more if you let me include old laptop batteries. Also, who will be paying for shipping, or do you take only local supplies to you in Dallas?

The shipping is on you. Just tell me that you are from the SMF an I can give you the $1.25 as of now.

Li-Ion either it be from a cell phone or from a laptop is the same thing in my book.

An as I have stated before weight = more money....so if you have around 300pounds of Li-Ion batteries I can pay a good bit better.

Hmmm. flat rate box full of batteries would be $15 to ship. Weight would be... Well anything over 15 lbs would be profit. Thanks! I will keep your service in mind Easy.

Ummmm.. never mind. Now that I think of it the PO has an issue with batteries.

Yeah, as everyone is saying it's about the weight; so if you do have access to some cell phone batteries, I wouldn't go for the lightweight kind like the lithium polymer. The best cost to weight ratio would be like the NiCd(Nickel Cadium), of course they contain hazardous chemicals, which may not be taken

For example an LG Standard Battery for the VX3200 is about 50 dollars, but you can get for closer to 10 from some places

    I don't think that's scrap value.
