    Ironically, I haven't come a cross a motor with burnt out winding in quite a while. Usually the brushes burn up, but if there was very little use, I would first be checking for other problems. Most B&S generators made in the last few years are "smart" generators. The inverters were controlled by computer or by a control board. I'm sure that would ring a bell with most people here. There is a ton of stuff that could have gone wrong, which is why there would be a secondary market for people that like to fix them. It might just need a new controller or a fuse went.
