square wire ?

Hi to all, I have some square wire that measures .225 thick and some thicker than that from transformers.Is it considered wire? and it has a thin kinda fiberous insulation on it that I am quessing would make it #2 or is there a way to get that off because under it the copper is bright and shinny.

i had some of that just a couple weeks ago and thought it should get #1 but it got # 2, it had the coating on it too though

I tried soaking a piece in solvent-nothing, tried acetone-nothing, even scraping it off doesnt get it all

i believe if i had a barrel of trash to burn, i'd throw it in there after it was good and hot

on second thought, you'd better be careful there too, i think it's hard to get rid of burned stuff now

the times I have run into square wire it always ended up being aluminum wire with copper colored enamel. Including compressors, microwave transformers and ballisters.
