Makes me wonder if scrap prices are correlated to gasoline prices in some way. I've been actively scrapping since September (Louisville, KY) , and gas has been been going down steadily the whole time to the lowest point in years. During this period, scrap prices have gradually been bottoming out. Around Thanksgiving, gas suddenly jumped up 15 - 20 cents, I assume for the holiday season. But if scrap prices rise as well, I wonder if they are related.
