So China is falling - How far down are your prices?

In Ottawa, Canada, where I live, Shred price is down to $75/MT from $90/Mt in 2 weeks. Copper #1 is down to $2.30 from $2.50 and #2 is down to $2.10 from $2.30.



I've been doing a lot more small engine repairs and disassembly of scrap - also thinking of getting into value added plastics recycling.



Interested to hear what is going on elsewhere.

My yard stopped buying unprepared steel today. Closed out at $20 per short ton.

Still 120 a ton here. It was 50 back in January.

no I seen an increase in heavy and shred this past few months I do shred local because of bulk so only 3.25clb but for heavy I ship out and its went up a little last week to 10.5clb so doing good with prices for now lol

Called Schnitzers and got quoted $50 for shred. Then he put a buyer on the line and HE offered $90 for light/$110 for heavy.
A quick phone call to my Pacific guy and he said they'd match it.
Competing nicely. Now, if only Pacific had a magnet.....

I took a trunk lot of shred in today before work to my new nearby yard (loving that big place!!). "Tin" is up to $80 a ton which is a 100% increase in th elast 2 months. I sold a little Cu at $2.00 for #1 (Devin, I consider this "good" for around here recently) and $1.80 for #2. Only had a few pounds each though. $2 a pound is about the best there is for any scrap metal around here. Sounds like the "heartland" for shred is ok compared to the coasts. I suspect middle of the continent buyers have end-users in the general region or next one over whereas West and East Coast guys are feeling the full affects of China's economic flu...

I took in some metal yesterday.
Light gauge was NZ$10 a ton.... That's US$7 Per 1000kgs....

Lucky I don't scrap ferrous....

Got NZ$6.25 / kg for Copper #2. Great price!!! Was expecting less than $6. Even $5....
Ali prices were good too, above $1.10/ kg
I think I am getting 'special prices' now. Ssssshhh don't tell anyone...

Oh, they forgot to pay me for the copper domestic. I know what happened though. I had things seperated and they pulled my 'burnt copper wire' out of my 'domestic copper' sack and gave me 'Copper #2' price for it.
Then we put the domestic copper sack aside and forgot about it.

Oh, I did get a low price for my car battery's. 45cents a kg rather than the 70cents/kg that I thought it was worth.. That was weird. ('roll the r when you say "weirrrrd") cost me $20 odd.
