I haul in my shred about 3 to 4 times a year. I've noticed that prices have been going up and my last trip it was 100 a ton. I called them yesterday and they said 50 a ton for shred which caused me to laugh in the persons ear followed by a "no thanks".

The next call was to PSC in Nashville and they are giving 160 a ton. This is why I always tell everyone to check around on prices. Now what I need to do is load up maybe 5 computers (they don't take computers) and show them that all PCB's and plastic has been removed.

0.05 lb/5.00 cwt/100.00 a ton has been the case for at least a decade in NC, SC, GA, and AL. Right before it ended up there it was 0.19lb/19 cwt/380 a ton.

I run a 20' tandem car hauler with around 8 tons, and a 36' semi dump trailer usually around 30 tons, and they don't move at those prices.. You'll see people on these forums, or driving minivans and crossovers at the yards that you just know don't realize they have little to no profit margin no matter how much they process; I guess it makes sense if you're retired or have everything paid off and just need small fun money....

I'm just glad I have options that pay more.... It usually takes an estate clear-off for me to even do a run these days...

I was just sitting here thinking about my trip to the yard today to get rid of about 800-1000 pounds of PC cases and other shred. Not really looking forward to the trip. I would prefer someone local stop by my house and I would give it to them. I'm only interested in the circuit boards and other parts that can be sold for better than scrap prices.

Computer and PCB bulk pallets right now go for about what the gold they produce does... That stopped being profitable after gated community families seen people doing it on youtube and started over paying for bulk assuming gold will spike or it'll be currency over lead during fallout(lol)

Are you trying to say circuit boards are not profitable?
