Today I dropped off 2100# and the yard was paying $0.0375 a pound. I have been a regular scrapper since 2006 and this is the lowest I have ever seen it. All during the economy recession of 2008, it never dipped below 4 cents a pound. This is in Houston, TX. My regular job produces a lot of shred steel so I will still haul it in because other option is to pay to dispose.

Yeah, if you had to pay to dispose, you'd have to add that to the equation, but simply picking up & scrapping for profit from the sale is different from my (and most of our) situations, I gather.
