Time to sit on it is when the price bottoms out, then wait for it to come back up

If you sit on it now and then when the trailers are full and you have to bring it in >> might be down to $140 a ton
Gate price at my yard is already 100 a ton for shred !

    Oh my GAWD!
    That is robbery!

Here is my gripe.. I get current "to mill" pricing every day.. They are still getting $340/ton!! Checked it this morning!

Location location location, I live far enough away from a mill it has to be transported so lower prices. 3 hours in any direction isn't high enough to offset the cost of hauling it. If I could move 25 ton plus at a clip, maybe but at 5 ton a round no way.

Love to get a semi and trailer to make it worth the haul. Even checked into loading metal on the rail line. Found one point to load out of, but need to do the math to figure expenses verses profit. Concerns with this strategy is density of the load and layover for the gondola car. Getting closer to an answer and will share with those interested.

Around here there is always a truckdriver looking for a load to get him/her to maybe a better place for loads, especially if they own there own truck. They have to pay for fuel and maybe a payment. Sometimes you can get a discounted rate to get them to a better place.

Greyhound is right around 1 to 1.50 per lb, yes they do it...if you needed something to arrive slower than next day air for more money spent...
