holding at $140 ton
Still 160.nt for appliance scrap/tin.
tin @ $75/gross ton :( Not sure why prices are always so much more lower here in CA than other states. Perhap I should check out prices in Los Angeles I think the prices are better there but, about a 2 hour drive. I will need to save up and bring bunk loads in that case.
$170 per ton or .085 cents per pound
but electric motors have dropped locally by about 20-25%
Down to $219 GT here as of yesterday
Up to about a month ago, and at least 6 months prior to that, it was running $180 a ton
Friday the 17th is was down to $140.00 and I was told would drop some more
Those prices for Cars
Just got back from a trip to Upstate NY.. Prices there are $219/ton for Vehicles.. $209/ton for Sheet Steel.
Here in Central Indiana- Still holding at $200/ton for steel
Down to .07# as of yesterday....sucks!!!!
Up to $145 a ton
On a positive note the only good thing about low prices is if you find something and can't get it as your truck is full it may still be there when you drive back!
$0.07 yesterday here in Sarasota. I got $0.075 (I think because I am a regular). I am going to be cleaning up my shop today and I have a ****pot of brass. I think I am going to make sure the price is up before I dump 100# at the yard.
Fellow Scrapper took in a load at Local Rat Corp yesterday: $160/ton
Tried to call my yard which is a feeder yard for a better paying company upstream- no answer.
So worst case here right now is the $160/ton
Guess the brunt of Q4 Mill orders were cancelled. Not good for all of us.
as of today in southern Maryland drive in small load (under 1,000) was .05 The "we like you" price on tin/shred/mix for over 2000lbs was .0625 and we unload the truck.
That's a ouch I'll process and hold until spring. Got around 2000bs of stainless to get ready and a bunch of aluminum to clean and sort for later.
Sad to say.. but this is just one of the dips and downturns in our market. I'm holding steel right now. And I am not out hunting cars that people want $500 bucks for. Unless it's dirt cheap, I'm not paying for anything right now. Rather sit at home and count the cash I have than spend it to work to break even.
On a bright note- the curbs have been good as of late- I guess .08/lb is a threshold here where I live. See a lot more on the curb I'm able to pick up because guys have all but abandoned the routes.
Hold, wait and WIN!
192 per GT this morning...BOOOOOOOO!!!
Drop from 210 down to 195/Ton, Yuck!!!
Cars and light iron at $7.50/cwt here and still dropping. It's going to get worse, too. I'm pretty much cleaned out of steel for now, and it takes a while for me to build a batch. I mostly just have scrap pipe, manifolds and ends that I cut off of converters.
Just dropped off a load here in Kansas City, MO and was 165 a ton. Last time it was 180ish a ton but that was probably 6 months ago.
we went from 210 bout 6 months to 189 a ton... A hour west of Chicago
Took a small load of pc metal and got $0.095/lb. They classified it as shreddable. Clean aluminum was @ $0.45/lb., alum. cans $0.60/lb., stainless 304 $0.40/lb.. This is in Hickory, NC.
$70/GT for light iron $ .03 /lb
That hurts the wallet a little.:(
We were at $120 last time I was in, stainless had dropped $0.20/lb since when I first went, everything else was the same but aluminum went up to $0.55
I just noticed the drop here too. Down to $150/gt shred, 140ish/gt white goods.
Just got 70/GT on 11/3. Also everything else dropped also.
There are multiple scrap yards in my area and shred prices range from $140 nt to $180 nt.
The yard paying $180 nt has a massive shredder that has to be fed every day.
The $180 nt is down from $190 nt in Oct and $200 nt in Sept.
Cast iron and #1 prep are at $200 nt at the same yard.
Columbus, OH 11/4/2014:
$195.4/GT shred
$.22/lb for Irony Aluminum
$2.52/lb for #2 Copper
The coasts have squeezed and now the Midwest has squeezed as well.
Yesterday at my best paying yard $160/net ton
Looks like the party is over on steel until the 1st part of 2015!
:(
It's gona be a long winter !
$.06 a pound for sheet iron... $120.00 net ton sucks and sucks again!
Looks like the party is over on steel until the 1st part of 2015!
:([/QUOTE]
We dont even know that lol . was talking to an employee at a small yard yesterday . he is scared . he is afraid this year is going to be different then other years and not in a good way :(
$9/100LB here I guess thats $180/TON........Still worth hauling as of now
Yesterday afternoon dropped a few things to get them out of the way for more (hoepfully) today..... .0775 / pound, down from .0875 about 2 weeks ago. North Georgia.
I had a yard employee tell me there was a troy oz of gold in every computer tower.
Another yard employee told me 2 years back the prices would start rising come October. All they've done is drop at that yard.
Not every yard employee knows what he's talking about.
Sirscrapalot - The Sky is falling.
Just called my main yard - shred price is $190gt. Down from $245 over the summer.
I mean sirs probalbly right. i was at this small yard a few days back that i used to buy things out of shred pile for ebay. he said that lately they have been shipping there metal out as soon as they get it . It takes days for there shred pile to grow. They ship out there wire when there bins arent even a 1/4 full. i think they are afraid there jobs will be cut. he said that they have only been working 3 days. Who knows:o
