That's a pretty clever idea using a paper cutter for the ribbon cables. I've got one sitting in the closet that never gets used anymore, but maybe it will now. Thanks...

Yep, that's the ticket. Since I don't have one though I'll have to make do with a pair of side cutters. Should still be able to get pretty close.

Um, I just finished a transaction with Ewasted and I chose direct deposit, from the time they issued the payment till the time I received it was less than 24hrs and they charge no fee, although some banks charge a $1.00 fee to receive it. Remember, direct deposit is significantly different than a wire transfer, with the exceptions of commercial wire transfer companies, wire-transfers take longer to clear and have a much higher fee, $20-$25 on average, depending on the bank. Some places give options for it to clear quickly but this almost always costs significantly more.

Thus, it is much more effecient to go the direct deposit route, no hold and a $1fee (I wasn't charged a fee). It is quick and easy.

used the search and couldn't come up with an answer. Do you need to remove the metal brackets on the gold finger cards before sending them in to ewasted?

The last I remember seeing was that you do NOT have to take off the brackets. The answer is buried somewhere in the dozens of pages on this thread but I dont blame you for not searching them all. I wish there was a shorter list of FAQ's

Uhh... I just removed all of mine! LOL I started to look threw the threads as well, but figured that they were easy to remove and that they did not want the additional weight.

^ I also always remove mine, I figure E-wasted isn't paying for the steel so i remove them. Great buyer to deal with also. Working on a load for him now..

Had another successful transaction with EWasted, took a while but that's to be expected, with the weather and whatnot. Only problem I had was I sent in about a pound and a half of ICs, was only paid for a half pound, and I had a little over 2 lbs of gold finger ram and about 1 lb of silver ram seperated in different bags, still got the mixed price. Not a big deal, I'm wondering if FedEX threw my box around or something and stuff got spilled/knocked around/lost.
Getting ready to send another box in, hopefully prices get updated soon to reflect gold returning to where it was before they were lowered.

My third shipment is on the fed ex truck and if you do keep the weights down the shipping is less. My previous shipments averaged .53 cents per lb with boxes typically over 70lbs. This time I did smaller boxes and did a more of them and my shipping should be about .40 cents per lb. It looks like I was close on one box though at 68lbs, which sucks cause I weighed it on the bathroom scale several times. Must be because it was bigger/bulkier I couldnt get an accurate reading, or it was the newspapers and tape. But I kept it under 70lbs.

Lol - just saw Ewasted updated the prices. I hope they went up since I have 3 boxes about to go out the door. 3 boxes - right at 20 lbs each and the quoted price of shipping is under $37. Much better rates then you would get yourself. This will be my 3rd transaction with the company. Already working on my next shippment. Just ran out of room to store stuff.

Well just got the prepaid label emailed to me, looks like $37.73 to mail a 45 lb box! Better than $41.80 USPS and $49.05 Fed X without prepaid.
Can't wait to see how this goes! I did add a note stating my Scrap Metal Forum ID (not sure if it gets better pricing or not)!

It was a great tip and thank you. The fed ex website says that you will be recieving it today. The only problem with smaller boxes is less of an opprunity to sort more. I had to do a lot more shoving this time. I did the best I could with some of the stuff. But motherboards have a bunch of other stuff in it, for that box.
