I was going to send a box but don't wish to post my life history to do it. I don't need a label or a packing slip, only an address Thank you

I sent out a couple of packages last month Bear. Everything went pretty well. The protocols were just a little different from a year ago but it was largely a smooth process. Turn around time was a bit shorter than expected.

At the very least .... Mario's crew is going to need to see a packing slip in each box so they know who to send the payment too.

    * Fairwarning * Shipping costs have gone up considerably over the past few years. You've really got to mind your P's & Q's on this. You might spend more on shipping than you make if you're sending out lower grade material.

    Hypothetical example:

    Complete laptops pay $ 1.25 a pound.

If your shipping cost through USPS was 1.30 a pound ... you would be losing money.

You said awhile back that you've been out of the game for awhile. Things have changed some. Not trying to tell you your business or anything. I would just like to see everyone do well with scrapping.

I don't have any pallet shipments. Feel free to PM next time instead of posting on our buyer's thread. Thanks!

The sweet spot for shipping from GA to OH seems to be a 20x20x20 box or less and 49 lbs. Once it goes over 50+ lbs the rate jumps a good bit.

That's been my experience as well except that i try to keep the package somewhere around 46 lbs. No two scales will weigh a thing exactly the same. Four pounds under allows for a wider margin of error.

Where did you find 20x20x20 boxes? I am about to send in a box or two.
Or if anyone else has ideas for boxing.
    Thanks

    Just some different ideas:

1: U-Haul sells medium size moving boxes. Home Depot sells them as well but the quality isn't as good. The UPS store and some of the other shipping companies would probably sell them as well

2: Look for wherever they are doing cardboard recycling in your community. Grocery stores make a lot of cardboard waste. Some other businesses do as well.

3: Myself ... i've been ordering boxes in bulk from U-Line over the last few years. The prices are ok and the service is excellent. It saves a lot of time chasing around when you can get the exact right thing delivered to your door on the next business day.

Whoo boy ... winter arrived right on time. ( Dec 21st.) It's cold ... everything's frozen into the ground. Time to shut down outside operations and settle in for the duration. Saved up enough material over the summer to keep my hands busy in the shop till springtime. The wood stove is my friend this time of year.
