TJ ... i just wanted to wish you all the best.
I was self employed with my own small time gig for 16 years. Saw my fair share of the ups and downs and took plenty of hits along the way. The healthcare issue was the final straw to break the camel's back. I finished up all of my pending jobs, shuttered the business, and returned to the workforce a couple of years ago.
Sometimes there are megaforces in play that are well beyond anyone's control. Our healthcare system is really broken. What we're seeing now is just the tip of the iceberg. Things will become more clear as time wears on. Till then ... try not to stress about the cost anymore than you have to. It's all an absurd and cruel joke.
You remind me so much of my eldest son. You both have brave and bold temperaments. Truly dauntless ! First on point to blaze their way into new territory in the world of business and do big things. You have to be careful not to overextend and take territory you can't hold though.
It's hard to see the forest from the trees when you're in the middle of it though. I tried to warn my son awhile back but he couldn't hear me. Too caught up in the game. His health finally gave out after five years of relentless expansion and eighty plus hour work weeks. He hit the wall. He always said that it was going to be all or nothing ... no middle ground for him.
It all worked out in the end. True ... he lost territory and lost some of his best customers but he survived to fight another day.
He's still in the game ... albeit at a more sustainable pace these days.
You'll survive and live to fight another day too !
