Not sure if anyone else has sold to these guys before? I sent a shipment to them over the weekend and am waiting to hear how I did on sorting and weighing my first batch. Will post a review of the company and the selling/payment process after we complete the transaction...

As Mechanic688 has indicated unfortunately these are not Tantalum Capacitors.

    My review as promised:

*Several positive email communications back and forth with questions and verifying types of material, as well as my research and questions on this thread.
Fri 10/10 Emailed TantalumRecycling with the totals I had ready to ship. Verified the shipping address and they requested I send an invoice with my material.
Sat 10/11 mailed priority mail flat rate envelope with material and invoice. Also emailed a copy of invoice and notified them I had made the shipment.
Tue 10/14 received confirmation email that my material arrived and that our weights matched. I had requested to be paid by check so they mailed it out 10/15 morning
    Mon 10/20 received check

Smooth transaction with excellent communication. I will definitely be doing business with them again. The turnaround time would have been faster had I not started the process on a Saturday! I highly recommend selling your material to Ronald and Mark. Hardest part is identifying and correctly sorting the material!!!

These capacitors use Mica for the dielectric. Mica capacitors have good stability because their temperature coefficient is small. Because their frequency characteristic is excellent, they are used for resonance circuits, and high frequency filters. Also, they have good insulation, and so can be utilized in high voltage circuits. It was often used for vacuum tube style radio transmitters, etc.
Mica capacitors do not have high values of capacitance, and they can be relatively expensive.

Pictured above are "Dipped mica capacitors." These can handle up to 500 volts. These capacitors have no polarity.

So, I only harvest the yellow, square kind because they're easy to spot and I'm SO new at this. My question is: What are they called on the price list? What category do they fall under? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

The yellow capacitors are -- Tantalum SMD Capacitors.

These are Surface Mount Capacitors just like the Black Capacitors

We can provide more pictures if you email us at mark@tantalumrecycling.com

Thank you for the quick reply and the very helpful photos! Might as well hit you with a couple more newbie questions while I'm here:
What's a good weight to send? Like, I have about 2 pounds. Should I just keep collecting the little buggers until I have five #...or more?
And what if they accidentally get broken? (totally not my fault) Should I just throw those away?

We do not have any limits on the quantities we except - 2/Lb is enough to send to us, Please do not worry if the capacitors are broken as we recycle the capacitors anyway - The capacitors are never reused again.

I had taken apart a 1974 Western Electric telecom server last year and I totally missed all of the caps...I threw in about 10 lbs of what looks like it could have been Ag/Ta caps into my steel pile....
