    etack,
Just started to collect them. Do you want them with coating chipped off. Do you buy? "PALLADIUM & SILVER MONOLITHIC CAPACITORS". How about Tantalum chips? Some Tantalum capacitors will blow up like a firecrackers if you hook polarities wrong. Others smoke and catch on fire. Took a few electronics classes a while back.

You can leave the coating on. If you remove it it contains trace amounts of Ag. I do not buy MLCC as you never know what you get till they are processed. I do toll refine them if you have enough and don't mind a wait, they take time to do. I don't know about Tantalum IC chips but if mean SMD yellow and black yes I do.

    Etack,
Thanks for your patience with all the questions. I think I am more confused now than when this started. I do know this though. Cutting them off the boards sounds like a good job for my little brother the next time he whines about cut hands or sore arms.

    No problem.

I remove mine from boards when I take the battery off. It takes no time at all.
I just Updated my blog with new pics and descriptions of the Tantalum caps.

    Eric,
Will the boards also be marked + where a tantalum capacitor is soldered on?. I have pulled some from older boards that look like what you have pictured here. Boards and TA capacitor were marked with a +. Can you confirm the board markings ?, might make it easier to confirm and narrow down the TA caps. I know I have seen aluminum can capacitors and other components marked with a + as were the boards that they were soldered to.

It's not always going to be just for Ta caps. its best to just be able to ID them by site.

If you need any help I will be able to help email me pics to my email eric@recycletantalumcapacitors.com and I will tell you what are Ta caps.

I have a line on an auction lot that lists 75000 Ta capacitors. They appear to still be on the paper (?) strips they come on. Would you rather have them still on the paper tape for possible re-sale? Or off the tape for easier recycling weigh-out?

    THANKS!

Edited my post because the post I was referring to has been deleted.

I've done business with Eric a couple of times and really appreciated all of his work.
