Sent off my first box to ROK last week and was very pleased with the transaction. I have another box ready to ship out next week. I weighed everything at home just to double check, (as I do with all my buyers), and he was on the mark and even rounded UP my ram to the nearest #.

I requested a check as payment and received it quickly even though I'm down here in Texas. He had great communication throughout the transaction, emailed me the price before the check was cut, and included a breakdown with the check. Highly recommend this buyer for ram, laptops, and I sent him some hard drives and cell phones as well to top off the box.

    Thanks ROK!

I sent a load of laptop batteries topped up with some connectors on Tuesday of this week using a prepaid UPS label that ROK provided, and before the end of the business day on Thursday I was paid.

I am very happy with the sale and even moreso with the service. Every email I sent was answered in a expedient, professional, and friendly manner; and the actual purchase exceeded my expectations. My only regret is that I have sold at least 300lbs of Li Ion batteries to other buyers for lower prices this year, had ROK been around he would have gotten 100% of my business.

OK my fellow SMF members here is the my review of ROK from my first shipment to them. First off I would like to say thank you to Randy for all the late night emails back and forth and the hour long phone calls that made this first shipment with his company possible. The professionalism and the willingness to answer any and all questions I had about laptops and his pricing structure and everything else I had over the past couple weeks was outstanding. OK here is the break down.

I sent in 1200 pounds total of laptops, cellphones, Laptop Batteries, cd/dvd drives, and 11 working SATA laptop drives that he asked if I had any while I was getting the shipment ready. (Paid very good prices for these used laptop drives in my opinion.)
8/30 notified them 1200 LBS pallet ready for shipping.
8/31 recieved BOL provided by ROK and dropped shipment off at terminal
9/6 Pallet arrived at ROK at 450pm
9/7 paid via paypal at 449pm

Now seeing this was over a holiday and it was freight shipping cant complain to much about shipping times. But the fact that he got 1200 lbs of material processed and paid for in 24 hours is outstanding. For someone like me who hates dealing with laptops I for one am glad to have Randy and ROK on this forum. I dont hate laptops as much as I use to anymore. On another note. I was paid alot more for this shipment than I was expecting. He found some of the laptops I though to be scrap in good condition and paid accordingly. I look forward to doing alot of business with Randy and ROK in the future as we grow our business and the rest of my fellow SMF family can trust this company.

We have some really good freight contracts as our affiliated company ships lots of heavy auto parts around the country, so I was able to get a rate of $375 for the pallet.

Sent out my first shipment ever today. I have been selling my escrap in Boston delivering myself. I chose Rok because he is buying items that I couldn't sell locally. Four boxes today, laptops(p3+p4), some older laptops, laptop and cell batteries (l ion),cellphones and some connectors.

Laptop chargers with the wires attached.....50 cents per pound

    Gold ram....still $16/lb
    Silver ram....$14/lb

    Power Supplies:
    With wire: $0.35/pound

laptop and phone prices still the same.

Thank you again to all those who have worked with us. It has been a pleasure and I look forward to dealing with everyone else soon.

I feel the need to clarify some things in terms of laptops based upon a load which we received today.
Below is some of the information from previous posts.

    P4: Good screen $15 Cracked Screen: $1.10 a pound
    P3: Good Screen $8 Cracked Screen: $1.10 a pound

    P1 and P2: $1 a pound

For P3 and P4, as long as the screen is not visibly cracked or showing as broken (when you see the wave patterns in it, it is broken), we pay the good screen price. Since the unit does not have to power on, there is no screen test other than showing as broken.

I have been asked several times what happens if a laptop is missing a few items such as ram or hard drive or battery. I always say that if they are missing one or two items, that is okay. However, if they are missing all of the components, it is hard to pay full price. In terms of the cracked screen/scrap units, I state that it must have at least the motherboard.

Today I got a load where for basically all of the good screen units, almost everything was pulled off. The keyboards were removed on some, the batteries were removed on all of them, the memory was removed on most of them, the covers were removed on many, the hard drives were removed and the cd's were removed. OUCH. But the screen was not cracked.

In terms of the scrap laptops, the motherboard was there. However, everything else was removed. The cpu's were removed. The hard drives were removed. The Ram was gone. The batteries were gone. The boards were even taken out of the floppy drives and then the floppy case (at $1 a pound) was put back in the case. Technically, the motherboard was there (even if it was not complete as the CPU was taken out).

Because I do not want anyone to think that I screwed them, I made full payment to the person. However, I need to clarify things for everyone going forward.

For P3 and P4 good screen units. On average, they should be missing at most 2 items. If the hard drive is out of every unit, then the average unit should only be missing one more item at most. (If there are 10 laptops and 8 are missing no items and 2 are missing 4 items, that is fine. The average is less than 2.) For the scrap units, they should not be completely stripped. They need to have the motherboard and the cpu.

WOW...that is doing good business on your part. You recognized a possible problem, whether on your end or the customers, and stood by your pricing. Very impressive. Don't know of many who would take a loss like you probably are in the name of keeping a customer, well done. As for the person that shipped you the stuff I hope it was a person who is new to ewaste on not someone that should know better.

I have a question for you randy. If im going to send in scrap laptops for $1 a pound I would remove the battery, ram and hard drive. Your current prices pay better than $1 per pound for these items. Also I resell these parts myself if they test good. So if I am understanding your post correctly as long as motherboard and cpu are there they will qualify for scrap price? I know the good screen units I leave as whole as I get them because I know if they power up and have all the parts you will pay better for them.

    Here is my ROK experience.
After a few emails & phone calls with my questions, Randy at ROK found me a great rate of just over 30 cents a pound for my 785# pallet from here in Kansas.
Freight company picked up my pallet of laptops & batteries on Friday.
Wednesday (today) Randy emailed me my pallet had arrived & it will be processed today.
A few hours later I get another email stating my order had been processed & he needs an email address for my PayPal transfer. I did not look at my attached report until after I sent him my email address.
When I opened the report I thought it was Christmas in September. I was paid more than twice what I had expected. Most of the laptops I sent were graded P3 & higher.
Before this, I hated to buy laptops. From now on I think I will beg for them.
Overall, I would say that this was by far the best transaction I have had with the buyers on this forum.
All of my emails were answered promptly.
They found me a great rate.
Follow up email to make sure I received Bill of Lading.
    Notified when order received.
Order processed & paid for the same day.
Not to mention the high amount I was paid for my laptops which I thought were just scrap.

This was my first time dealing with ROK or anyone else on the forum with my laptops. I promise it will not be my last. I do not know how it could have been better. Cant wait to do it again. PTS recommended ROK to me a while back even before he sent an order to them. I can see why.

THANK YOU Randy & the ROK staff for being a member of this forum & allowing all of us to deal with you. There are great buyers out there & you are one of them. Its nice to find great people in a world where so many are out to rip you off.

First I would like to answer Part Time Scrappers question. For the scrap, you are free to remove most of the items as long as the cpu and motherboard are intact. I would suggest you also leave the CD drive and floppy as those typically pay less that $1 a pound as well. However, please try to leave the good screen units as complete as you can.

I got a call from the gentleman who sent in the "problem" load. He is new and he apologized for stripping things as much as he did. We had a very nice conversation and I believe we will certainly be doing more business in the future.

I have been getting very nice loads in from many of you and I want to say thank you to everyone. It has been a pleasure to work with all of you.

Pricing Correction....really need to have coffee before doing this in the morning.

Mixed Ram: gold and Silver should have been $15.50 not $15

    Thanks.
