What would you pay for this clean out?

This is a newspaper publisher clean out. I know it's hard to tell just by pics, but I was thinking .06 per pound. There is a farm elevator scale a block away, my house is 6 blocks the other direction. The nearest yard is a 60 mile round trip. So I would save them the gas and wear and tear on vehicle. I would tear it all down, and hopefully find some goodies.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

safes usually have concrete in them but are good for reuse

Honestly I would charge to move that load .considering going to the yard is a 2 hour round trip alone . Maybe free removal if it's a friend or family member . But don't forget your time,gas,wear and tear on truck .

i couldnt do it for .06 per pound. Only going to get .08 - .10 per pound. Need to double your money minimum. It would be the same 60 miles for them to take it in plus cover the employees wages and gas while he is doing it. Pay cash for the boards and offer free removal on the tin.

Definitely not .06. Maybe .02. The clean outs I do is for nothing since I'm saving the cleanout company money. Anything I take saves them space/weight in a dumpster.

Not sure I would pay with the drive you have...what's the competition like around there?

The drive/wear and tear is not an issue really. I have to travel to clean up my regular routes anyway, so it's on the way. Sorry, I should have mentioned that in my original post. Not really any competition. It's the city development corporation that's doing the clean out. The buildings are being demolished. So, one of the guys on the committee has his trailer parked there, and I assume will make the 60 mi run to the nearest yard.

Man you do stuff like this and you will be broke the first time you get a flat tire . Call a local cleanup service and get a quote on a truck load . Then ask your self what's a fair price to charge not pay .

I pay for all my material and I'm sitting on four flats sleeping in my truck....what am I doing wrong?

I sounded like my father in my last post , but it's because I care . I didn't realize the amount of money I was spending on gas until after I started delivering full time for a printing company , they paid for gas but I was filling the tank close to 3 times a week. I no longer drive full time but I continue to see the price of gas rise and my routes never get shorter either . The odometer.steadily rises until the next problem does . I would do a job like this one for free for family but any company knows what it cost to get a dumpster on site , but your offering to pay and load think about it.

I only pay for computers and cell phones now . Period my back won't let me touch my wallet if it sees 300lb sony tvs or gigantic printers . In my honest opinion you should charge them at least $100 and that's if you can load in 1 trio in less than one hour alone .

i agree there is not much there but scrap........THose machines with the boards probably are mostly mechanical and probably don't have alot of boards in them.........Mostly shred there perhaps some re-sell if u wanna hold onto some of those items......

I will buy those boards if you can get them. Part of me wants to call dibs, I love old stuff.

As the metallic maniac I would do it all free. Except for the safe. Dump only item. This is the only chargeable item I see . YES THE REST FREE WITH SOME DEMOLITION OR DISMANTLING ALL FREE # IT'S THE MANIAC IN ME. HOWDY DO FOLK :)

wow your close enough to me if your going 60miles 200or so I would sell you all my scrap for 0.06lb i can keep you in trucks loads all week long lol i am only getting 4clb here and traveling will not happen until I have a huge load of heavy but serious though i guess if you have to pay for it i would do less or maybe like a flat deal on like only the electronics say $20 for everything

Is there any way you could work it around so that you could strip out the wire & copper plumbing before the buildings get knocked down ? There might be some value in the building mechanicals if they haven't been messed with yet.

Gut the sucka? At total demolish and clean up. Hmmmm naaa aa lol

Nah ... not like that.

The most efficient way to do the demo is to go in with an excavator and knock the building down. Then haul off the debris in a wheeler. You know ... you're talking big bucks when there's heavy equipment involved. There's no time to mess around with trying to salvage wire & stuff. You would be salvaging pennies while the dollars are flying out the window.

I was thinking more along the lines of getting in well before the excavator shows up. Go in ,strip out the mechanicals, and don't worry about cleanup.

Might be worth doing .....

I'll stop joking. Really just haul what is available and if you work well they always have more stuff or different jobs . It's your availability and showing up to work. Do that and you will do ok . Any more is your style. Be you and relax just don't get tricked . Stay alert. 1scrap.

Majority answer: $0. That's what I was looking for, just an honest answer. Thanks to all who responded.

And Army Grey Wolf: I will see if I can pull boards, and give to you. Doing my regular routes til the 4th, if load is still there when I return I will inquire about boards.
