As I sat down earlier tonight at my grandparents house to a wonderful dinner, it hit me - pot roast is the ultimate scrappers meal.
It has a little bit of everything. It's like the variety of scrap you'd see on the back of a scrapper's truck/trailer...carrots, potatoes, beef, onions, etc.
Okay, I LOVE beef and may be biased here. What is your favorite dinner/supper to come home too?
Home made chicken and noodles with a side of sweet peas. The wife's been using the Amish noodles,,,,ummmmmm
Anything over the barbeque works for me..only person in my neighborhood to be grillin at 11 pm when its 10 below in the winter...
Firing it up for some brats in about 15 mins actually..neighbors are guna be dreaming of food..lol
I agree, brats on the grill is always good. Do you soak yours in beer first? We poke a couple of holes in them and let them soak for about 1/2 hour in some beer and onions . Goooddddd.Quote:

Basically anything that my wife makes homemade is sure to be a hit. Growing up you look at your grandma, your belly full of euphoria and say " No one will ever be able to cook better than that lovely woman!" Well, then I met my wife.......... still love ya grandma! lol
Mike..... you're lucky to be so close to a lot of Amish....... I dont think they can make bad food! Recently a German Baptist bakery and bulk foods store opened up down here....... I cant wait to get in there b/c I know for a fact they have the best pecan pie I have ever had!

I have had them before..they r tasty... I prefer my regular jonsonville though..do you drink the beer afterwards or have u been charged with alcohol abuse..lol
i love me a black Angus steak on grill with McCormick Montreal spice rub on the grill,potatoes
any gas station hot dog, chips and pop after delivering to the yard followed by a cigarette. Im a simple guy.

Corndog cooked in a toaster oven. An oven mitt would be too big and clumsy, so I reached in with pliers. There are lots of other things I want to cook in a toaster oven, but I can't eat all of that today.
My best dinner/supper is the ones that someone else cooks for me!! Thankfully the 19yr old wants to be a chef and cooks all the time!! :) The x-husband and his girlfriend are making fried chicken for us tonight :) I love the x's fried chicken, so on the rare occasion that he drags his sorry tail over here to see the kid, I talk him into cooking or threaten to run my mouth the whole time! Somehow it always tastes better when you went out and caught it. Out here it's Dungeness Crab dipped in garlic butter and cold beers.

Well, folks, I love simmering some good ole italian spagetti sauce in a crock pot.. but first let it ferment the night before in a bowl.. with all the seasons and goodies.. and italian bits of sausage.. and good ole beef.. then whip up some noodles...
git me a big bowl... douse the bowl with a mighty helping of warming tangling noodles.. and then scoop up some scrumptous italian beef sauce and lay it on...
with a nice bottle of Guiness to go with it.. Oh yeah Baby.. and BTW NO PREGO in there.. its all HOME MADE.

The ingredients of a casserole can theoretically be separated into edible parts, but in practice I am more likely to leave it in the shred pile and order a pizza.
I try and buy food from small businesses,
food is always better and i feel better about who is making money from me.
Call it childish if you will, but I could eat good ol spaghetti every night.
Or my moms chili. Or her homemade chicken soup. Yum.
a can of spaghettios w/meatballs, a nice hot fresh cup of coffee and then put my feet up and have a beer.
I really miss the "chicken shacks" down in southeast Kansas. That had to be some of the best fried chicken around. Chicken Annie's and Chicken Mary's and they looked like a big pole barn put up out in the country, neither one on a state road but everyone knew where they were. You would order an order of onion rings and they brought them out on a platter, you always took some home.Quote:

When I read scrappers dinner I thought of what I enjoy. It is not about the food but about how you eat it. My favorite is dinner is eating from dishes (nice) that came from freecycle. Fork and knife (quality silver plate ) bought a 25lb bucket that had a sterling ladle in it($52.00 sold) and watching tv on 32 inch flat screen (freecyle).
