A lot of repair shops I've been frequently lately have said that sales are slow and they are down 30 - 40%. Is there anyone else who is experiencing this or is it just bad here?

I run a computer shop in Wyoming. Things have slowed down on the sales side, and have picked up a little on the repair side. To me, that means that people aren't wanting to spend much.

The really nice thing is everyone here has had experience using garbage others throw out. We are already living by our wits and making ends meet any way we can.
they have not closed any coal burners in my corner of the world,,,,in fact we have built 2 new ones and added units on 6 existing coal burners in the ohio kentucky and west virginia area ...

i work in power plants,,,,,i do not claim to know everything about them.....i do know that back in the day clinto passed a bunch of regulations for clean air,,,they were all epa governed,,,,i worked for almost 10 years straight on scr scrubber and new smoke stack upgrades,,,,they finished up right before the deadline in 2010.......
any plant that didnt conform should have been closed in 2010,,,,,all of the ones in my district conformed......
there are 2 power houses around here that really need closed, they are falling apart and have not been maintained for many years....they are very dangerouse....i hate getting called into them..........
thats all i know,,,,,i wouldnt worry about them shutting down some plants,,,,im sure any they shut down will be replaced,,,,more than likely they will be replaced before the old ones are shut down
