when you get plumbing scrap do you just throw the tin out at the yard with the tape and insulation still intact, or do you have to take it off. I have a pick up full and don't want to take it off. im going to go for it and let you guys know. its the big tubing that run through the attics.
plumbers tubing in the attic? are you thinking about heating and AC ductwork? Either way, I suppose it'll depend on your yard. Might be good to weigh in and out apart from the yard to see if they dock you on it tho
The piping you are talking about is not plumbing pipe, it is duct work installed by HVAC contractors. The insulation at the minimum needs to be removed, the tape can be left on or taken off and bundled up, the tape is made from aluminum.
lol, sorry about that probably sounded stupid. what I ment was the guy I asked his companys call wiggys plumbing. yes so I will try and leave it on all but the elbows etc there aluminum. thanks a lot for your advise. they told me no vacumm one day after taking them for years there so I just stuck it under bunch of metal they next time I went back.
I hate to point it out, but you are intentionally deceiving the yard doing that. Gentleman scrapper. That is the sort of thing that gives us a bad name. Even at the scrap yard you can get a bad image.Quote:

true but I figure I give them all types of dirty aluminum, brass, copper and wire still on some items at tin prices so kinda evens it out or otherwise I would feel bad lol.
Interesting that you say that. I have thought about that before. Everything that goes through that shredder gets separated and of course sold. I would assume that the plastic gets separated and sold off as well and I am assuming that it fetches 10 to 15 cents a pound for them. maybe even more.Quote:

Just found out, all but two of the duct work is aluminum. so I broke the aluminum down and compacted them into small squares.
That's interesting. In the 40+ years I have been around duct work I can't remember any of it being aluminum that was used in residential work. But I'm old and forgetful. Pictures of this would be interesting.Quote:

hek, it's really not the rentals business what you're going to move, they're renting trucks to move things with, you have things to move. Rent if you must, if they ask why(which they probably won't), simply say you need to move some things! I believe they offer insurance, well yeah, I'd recommend it here ; )

Oh it's all types of scrap from weeks of scrapping, that's just the tipping on the ice berg. going to just use the truck, took double fridge, washing machine, 2 water heaters and a bag of cans. weight was around 780 lbs, made $78 but the place was like a swamp from all the rain heh.
lol that last post is how I feel like doing for real sometimes haha.
