the pricing on alu cans and motors seems too low .65 and .25 here
There are other yards that pay +/- on things but are just not worth the time and fuel. What I am getting the .15 for, is the byproducts of escrap. small fans, motors, transformers. A few of the yards will not even take the PC fans. So, for this region, and the convenience of the 2 yards I use from me, I am OK with the pricing. AND...they do not allow walk ins, nor, are there mud holes to drive through. All clean concrete!! THAT... has added value to me ;-)Quote:

I've been in contact with a lot of scrap yards in the last month or so in Central and Southeastern Ohio and the prices you're getting fit right in middle. The highest I seen for cans are .62lb and the lowest .45lb. I'm waiting till I talk to our buyer Tuesday but we will probably pay .50-.55lb. It's a 30 mile drive to the next nearest buyer that pays .62 so would take a lot of cans to make it worth the drive. From what I hear the UBC market is trending slightly down right now.Quote:

If you get a load that may be worth the extra fuel, they are about 2 minutes off I75, so it is an easy drive. I live 10min from there. Will buy ya coffee ;-)
We have no walk-ins, even for cans, but the meth heads still take up space/time.
Since that post, I've gotten a raise on shred- 9 cents a pound! Woohoo!
Also, we're going to have to set up some boundaries, no pickups in my area :)
What do you do with old wax? Candle making business?
Its also nice to go to the same place and build a relationship with the employees because they end up hooking you up in the long run.Quote:
