To hot,To cold

I know most of you guys in USA are freezing cold,covered in snow which makes scrapping hard.
Here where I live in Australia the next 5 days are going to be 40+(104f+) and that is bloody hot.
I think that is what make you a true scrappers,most would say to hot,to cold,to hard.
Most around here have said to hot,so I am pushing hard to do all I can and I hope when the other guys come back
all the people around here say "sorry I got another bloke"

It's been raining here in Va. and luckily we don't get much if any snow. there are a lot of "fair weather" scrapers out there or not out there in this case. Manny is correct, gives you a chance to shine!

Eight inches of snow on the ground, temps close to zero (F), but no wind here. The cold and snow does not keep people from working because most are farmers and ranchers. To make a living you have to adjust. High winds with the cold might keep a few inside, but not many. On the other hand 104 degrees would affect the competition.

Its 14 degress F outside right now but its trash day and I am off. So out the door I go. Sure would make it feel warmer to see a kangaroo though :)

Way more hot than cold down here in my neck of the woods. But weather it's really hot/cold(lol cold? in Louisiana? yeah, right)/or really wet n rainy I absolutely love when we have extreme weather. The competition just for some reason is not near as much. They don't even run their ads on CL! Me? I work thru all of it. Being there for the customer when he/she needs you will definitely give you a leg up.

All you said is good, I'm just saying, on the other hand, those temps Are hot. Do as you wish, but be aware of the signs of heat stroke, and if you begin to get any of them, find some shade and take a break. Keep water with you too.
Working in extreme cold is dangerous also. It can be done with proper cautions and safeguards, just make sure you're well prepared.

I woke up this morning to a frigid 6 degrees. Burrrrrrrrrrr...No matter how hot it gets in the summer, I never complain of the heat, plus the girls tend to wear a bit less. Canada can have their snow and cold air back anytime, now. The joke's over. :)

Just got back into Michigan from Florida. Sixteen freaking degrees, are you kidding me? Sure glad I bought all that thermal underwear. Time to man up and hit up some potential customers tomorrow. I am definitely seeing the advantage to being a snowbird though. If money permitted I wouldn't be back here until April. Neuropathy in the feet has turned me into a real cold weather wimp.

I hate cold weather and wind especially. It was eighty degrees until a couple of days before Christmas.. Even if it's 50 degrees, it's too cold for my liking. (I know, I'm a weather wimp)

24 today with low of 9. I don't do well in cold.

All that is true Bear & some good advice.
When working in extreme conditions a little bit of common sense goes a long way.
At the moment I schedule all my pick ups for the morning so I am finished picking up by 11-11:30 am.
Then it is home into the air conditioned shed for sorting and break down and a few cold beers to keep me hydrated.
I also get a lot of thing that can be repaired(washing machines,lawn mower,ect.) and sold for much more than scrap price,so that fills in my arvo.
But i do agree stay safe all.

This morning it was minus 8F . High tomorrow is predicted 17F. Cold definitely kicks my arthritis. Just glad I've got a separate house (actually a glorified cabin) I use to store and break down electronic stuff. Well stocked refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee, bathroom, couch, heat and enough to keep me busy all winter. Nobody telling me to pick up my mess - just leave till tomorrow. What more could you want?

I hope you know that beer does NOT hydrate you, it actually causes dehydration (water loss). Same goes for soda.

i moved out of Michigan to Florida 7 years ago. i doubt i could handle 16 degrees anymore. i use to laugh at the people down here turning the heat on when it's 68 degrees outside but truth be told, now i find myself reaching for my coat when it gets below 70.

ah Burly you was just callling us cute the other day :) ive been taking care of my calls but just doing the minimum not because of the cold but the mud the more i move around the bigger mess i will have and the longer it will be there

That's what I'm doing. Won't be long and I'll have at least one acre fully covered with pea gravel.

We got lows of 65 and highs of 80 Id say Florid is winning the award for best places to scrap in the winter.

hahaha...you should see what is left of the competition at -45 F. Then it warmed up to about 30 F in the coarse of a week. That's a serious spread. Around here we get excited when it's "above".
