    Seller fees are based on total selling price. Item sell price plus shipping cost. It put the cabosh on people with low item price and high shipping to try to avoid eBay fees.

    True. People will still look at the price first, and some people don't factor in shipping. They figure they got a great deal on price. Someone with more money than time will click on the first link and may buy it.

    I remember before the fees changes happened. I was doing competition BBQ and needed some nice canopies. 10 x 20 steel for weight and strength. Typical cost was about $250 at the time. I found some that were $19.99 with $180 shipping. I however calculated the cost of both and they were still the cheapest. But there are those that pay no attention to the shipping thinking that all shipping will be the same no matter who they buy from.
