< gentle laughter > Seniors drop in centre .... i think you've got a point there. It feels like us scrappers are kind of a dying breed sometimes. It probably won't mean anything to someone that doesn't live here on the island but it's a kind of a tight knit community. It leaves a hole when people you've known for years drop off the radar for one reason or another. It seems like there's been an awful lot over the last couple of years when i think about it. It's a sad thing when you've fallen into the habit of looking up old friends in the obituary section of the local newspaper every week.
Ahh well ... the hell with that. No sense in dwelling upon it. Life goes on and there's work to be done. Somebody has to keep the wheels turning.
It's the busy season here. Things have really ramped up over the past month. It's shaping up to be a banner year for tourism. My normal workday is nine hours. I'm going to have to increase that to ten and go in for a few hours on the days we're closed just to keep up with all of the extra work it makes. Gotta keep up or get out of the way.
Already looking forward to Labor Day. That falls on September 1st and marks the traditional end of our tourist season.
