Crazy, Ive been in a similar situation, and the powers that be sometimes put us in places for certain reasons. I had a similar instance where a guy who had been car jacked was standing in the middle of the road, similar two lanes no lights and had been beaten with a baseball bat. Two guys had set up a situation where one guy laid by the road and the other one waived cars down for help all to set up a good samaritan or passer by. One couple had seen the two guys one lying on the side of the road but didnt stop, and actually went down the road and called EMS for them. The guy who was the victim was the next passer by stopped and thought he was to help the guys. They beat him up with a baseball bat and stole his car. I was the next car to pass and I did stop and help the guy. He was bleeding so badly that I had to take off my t shirt and wrap up his head. Kept him conscious tried to keep him calm. It wasn't pretty. The couple that didnt stop for the guys that called ems and circled back to see if who they thought were injured were ok. EMS showed up maybe 10 mins later. This was pre cell phone days. Was crazy. Talking about why you end up where you do when you do.
