I have way to many projects going at the same time. A car hobby to house flipping to car racing with lots in between. I am retired almost 11 years now so I scrap and repurpose for a hobby. I search the scrap yards for goodies. Last week I was dumping a load of shred when I saw a really old cast iron theater seat side over by the scale. Still had the old arm rest on it. One from around the 30's. The guy that owns the place said he grabbed it out of the pile and had plans for it. It is however still sitting by the scale. He did tell me his yard guy who runs the crane and loads the trucks hauling to the shredder said there were a few rows of the old theater seats he saw that went in the roll off and are now probably ripped to shreds. That broke my heart. Old history like that gone for scrap. The sad part is the Hispanic guy running the crane could care less. It's all junk to him. His not growing up here but instead in Mexico he has no appreciation for something vintage here in America. The guy who runs the yard said he told the guy to come get him every time he sees something unusual. I have a 26 Ford model T tall coupe rat rod under contruction. Plus I am in the process of redoing my shop and back yard using old industrial corrugated metal off a 75 year old cotton gin that blew apart recently during a dust storm near a town south of where I am called Casa Grande. The guy who owned the old gin said to anyone who wanted to collect the metal to take all you want. It was scattered for miles.
