Landfill employee receives prison sentence for scrap metal theft

People are really dumb aren't they. Where I am the Salt river/Pima Indian tribe runs all the landfill operations and recycling. With prices so low it takes tonnage to make even a few bucks off scrap. It surely was not shred materials they were stealing. I have been in the metal disposal area of our local dump. I saw mostly old appliances and not much if any scrap copper, wire or anything else that could be considered valuable enough to risk prosecution. I guess it would be possible to obtain those big buck chips from discarded computers and sell them and the gold. The restitution is what amazes me.

The court transcripts from each individule trial would make for some interesting reading.
