In late 2001 I went gluten free.
My Doctor mentioned it and a workmate filled in some other info with the 'Eat right for your blood type' diet (O+).
Up till then McD's was where I ate at lunch and read the free newspaper. Also when on the road for work jobs.
But, I was feeling full, bloated, tired all the time. Couldn't crap without eating to push it thru my system.
But the 'tired all the time', and stress, that's what rooted me.
So, I can still eat the fries, sundae, remove the bread and eat the rest of the burger. Read the newspaper.
So they changed the menu. Every time they change the menu is a hassle. You have to start all over again. In the drivethru.....
Then, they put the prices up a bit. A bit too much.
Then they made the items a bit smaller, a bit too small.
You had to ask specifically for tomato sauce.. "Oh no tom sauce.! You didn't ask for it? Nah, forgot"
The food didn't taste the same. It felt like they were 'Nickel and dimeing' you. Cheating you really. Its just sauce.
Then they introed salads, I liked that. I could go twice a day. Sometimes.
But, then they put the price of sundaes up. Ok. Then they made the sundaes smaller..... Then they changed the Caramel....
Then. Then they advertised it "As you have always liked it".....
That was the beginning of the end. I know when I'm being ripped off, short changed and having the piss taken....
Even a free newspapers not going to make up for that.
And, even now, the slightest amount of burger bun and in a hour I'm asleep. I do not know what it is but its specific to McD's burger bread.
I can get away with a small amount of other burger buns. But not McD's .Dunno why.
I have been there less than 10 times in 5 years. Even asking for "Buns separate" . they do not understand and mess it up.
Started going to BurgerKing. But they get the order wrong, they up the price of everything by 5 or 10 cents and expect me not to notice.
Their icecream machine goes into 'Heat Mode' at random. Meaning no sundaes or shakes, meaning no combo meals... No deal. No newspaper.
Gave that up too.
I get Chinese meals now. Local owner operator, family. No corporates. Says "Thankyou" and mean it.
