    Rummage sale fantasies...

I went out rummaging this morning. Because of the holiday weekend, not many rummages going on so I decided to combine with some stops at a few of the metro thrift shops. Didn't buy anything at the rummages I stopped at, most of the people had too high of prices on their junk. A couple of places I had been to before in other years. Same story, these people drag out their same, tired over priced pieces and think they're going to sell at a rummage. And maybe they eventually will but how many times will you have to present the piece to someone?? One place has some antiques and vintage stuff and has 2 rummages a year. I wonder how much they truly move?? I've crossed that place off unless there's an estate sale that actually wants to move stuff.

We have had very successful rummage sales out of our old house which was a couple blocks off of 2 city arterial streets and out of our new house which is either one of the first or last stops out of our bedroom town when they do they're city wide rummage. But we've also priced stuff to sell. I don't have this fantasy that I'm going to recover 50%, 2/3rds or more of the retail price. People want deals at rummages. Maybe its my geography and maybe people do get high $$ for their used stuff but you won't get it from me...

I'd have to agree but its not just rummage sales. CL is notorius for price gouging. Ebay isn't that bad, but a couple of sites I use to frequent got like that so I stopped shopping there. Even the discount stores around me are getting that way. I understand they need to make overage for rent but yeesh.

I was out to this morning and nothing but along those lines I seen a old dell p4 with 256ram no video card same type I get for 50cents to dollar most the time they had it priced for $125 no cord just the tower lol but most of what I do is scout for things a day or two later to pick up from the curb. I do a few huge weekend sales at the end of july begin of aug for the stuff I got at college clean outs and various stuff I have picked up all year long and sell it cheap cheap I even have a penny and nickel shelves full of stuff because for that cheap it goes fast people buy a lot and even bulk stuff I restock.
plus its fun to watch students buy what others tossed out lol

One of the few things I picked up at the thrift stores today was a camo BDU "shirt" with "U.S. Navy" name tag, Lt. Commdr gold oak leaves collar patch (but not subdued black), and a subdued black Seal patch above the Navy strip. Must have been a little guy, "medium short" for a size. It will be interesting to see what this goes for to a collector...

ya that first round is over but 2nd is coming so I have my sales at the end of july and beginning of aug when move in move out starts which is awesome as well and yes its both very busy times no one really believes how much I make on here so take it as you will but if your here or a college town yourself to see it I clear at least $10,000 over a 5-8day time and more when I have sales because it adds to what I get from apt swaps move in move out times. this past move out I had a my own record of 61 calls for pick ups. I charge now for crt's and during this time I do discounts $10each vs. $15plus normally I hate I can only rid them 2-4day but the money pays my storages to work from and to store them as well I took in 127 this round.
I love selling stuff back to them though lol
