    pizza

Being a Chicagoland native; pizza can be a touchy subject. Deepdish is a Chicago staple but we also love the traditional thin crust from the right places.

What does your area deem "good pizza"? I was just curious as I have had pizza from other areas and have never been impressed I may just be a pizza snob but they never can compare. Don't even get me started on Italian beef.

If pizza isn't your area's forteit, what kind of food is and from what establishment?

Please don't say little cesars or dominoes... That is for when you are drunk that is not really socially acceptable pizza.

Tonights choice: Rosati's... Although a chain it is consistant in this area not ao much out of state.

Beaujos pizza out here in colorado has what they call a mountain pie. Real thick outer rim crust with a hand tossed center. After you eat the pizza you spread honey on the crust and eat it that way.

    pizza

I have worked at a higher end pizza place (averages $17 for a specialty) for 1.5 years now and im a manager there. After eating here and working for so long I cant eat anywhere else. With our fresh quality ingredients, and fresh made dough and pizza, I cant eat any where else. Its hard to diss other regions food being a bbq critic. I was in Chicago for band and had the pizza, I liked it but thought it was a little sweet for my taste (the sauce). But I absolutely understand every where has different tastes. Here fresh is best, you dont want cheap pizza made with frozen that has been made for two hours. Here most people prefer the thicker style crust, that has a good crunch. We also load the pizza pretty good with toppings, here is our Meat Supremo ( cant get it to load google marcos meat supremo)

Many years ago I stopped in Brooklyn,NY for a bit and found a bunch of Kosher pizza by the slice shops and most of them were really good. Nothing like the pizza t by the slice we have here in WIS/ILL.

Give me a few more beers and I'll say……

Ok well this is a great topic, #1 i am a Italian Amercian from Brooklyn New York, where i come from the best Home made Abitzza pizza is from doe doe"s the tomatoes are grown in the back yard and then they jar then for the hole year, the basangole basil is also grown in there yard and frozen in ice trays for use when needed, the Buffalo Mozzarella they use is flown in from Italy, its put on the pie in slices not ground up pieces, the oven is a coal oven that they shovel coal into, the mother, grandmother, father, daughter and son work there, the best part they have no sign and do not give out there phone number, they are open Thursday Friday & Saterday thats it, by far the best kept secret and best pizza in the USA.

The wife and I concoct an 8lb homemade zza. Yes it is 8LBS. I roll my fat ass onto the scale and weigh in, then grab the pre-cooked pizza and weigh in again.

Homemade crust, sauce with some Italian seasoning, garlic.

Having a son in the cattle industry insures there is plenty of beef, then some sausage, Canadian bacon, American Bacon, and some ham cubes.

Then Veggies, but not too much. Green peppers, Red Peppers, Onions, Mushrooms, Chives.

Cheese: Everything in the fridge. Heavy on the cheese. Even tho I am lactose intolerant. I'll suffer through it.

425 for 40 min, then broil the cheese nice.

Let it rest for 10 minutes while you drool all over yourself.

Nothing can touch it. 1/2 a piece for the wife, 1 and 1/2 for me. Pizza leftovers for the week.

Then we do the deep dish...

Out here, Dominos is the best we have. The local pizzaria charges $18 for their large, and I actually prefer Dominos. Now, that's pretty sad. To the North (Billings, Montana), there's a Pizza Ranch. They make a good pizza, but their fried chicken is to die for.

In Wyoming, our specialty is tacos. There's a Taco Johns on every other corner, and a Mexican restaurant on every other available spot.

PTS beat me to it...don't get there as often as I'd like and they are a little pricey, but good stuff for sure.

Best I've ever had was in Montreal. I worked at a restaurant that had been across from my uncle's for years. They would put the toppings on the sauce and pile (I mean PILE) cheese in the middle. Everything was fresh, handmade, and DELICIOUS. These aren't actual pic but are what I'm talking about!

Oscars pizza sports bar and grill is the best in my area. they put all the toppings under a thick layer of cheese and have a great flatter pizza. I feel like if were talking about the same marcos pizza chain it must be better in your area....

Chicago, New York, and maybe add Boston ?

I grew up not too far from East Boston & the North End. At the time, it was almost all first & second generation Italian immigrants. There are too many places to list but they all had really good pizza. The sub sandwich shops were to die for. The Italian bakeries had awesome fresh baked bread, cannolis, and other Italian pastries.

Really haven't seen anything to compare to it since moving north but here we get hard shell lobsters, crab, and scallops right off the boat. They hit the dinner plate within an hour or two of coming out of the water.

Good in their own way ..... just not pizza.

I would def like to compare a deepdish pizza outside of Chicago. Lou Malnatis is my particular favorite. Some will argue over a few other local favorites.http://www.loumalnatis.com/resources...ges/logo2x.png

And no the frozen ones you can order online or even the carry out places around here don't compare to the couple restaurants they have.http://www.loumalnatis.com/filebin/i...pizza-body.jpg
