    Test time

BISMARCK, ND - North Dakota lawmakers are considering a bill that would require high school students to take the same test that immigrants must pass to become a U.S. citizen.

Take the test here: Naturalization Self-Test 2 | USCIS

Pretty basic stuff. Please post your results. I got 1 wrong. (Benjamin Franklin question)

    Thanks.

I got 20/25. Probably would get the same score on a Canadian version. Don't worry though, I'll be staying up here where I don't have any "Health Insurance Woes"

When I worked for Publix this french-canadian couple who couldn't speak a word of english would have their daughter translate for them and would always tell me how they loved the area and how far they've come from how it was. Canada's on my list of places to visit for reasons only known to me and the wife, next to Australia, Ireland and Italy.

I agree kids should take this test Gorven. Here's the other thing: be able to balance a checkbook! Both of the wife's kids graduated from HS and had no clue. I'm still not sure the girl can do it.

My GF did really bad on this test, I had to pay (bribe) her $20 to take it. She's no dummy, just hates everything about history, government, and the news! This has led to many a arguments, but she does have a good looking walk.

Well I'm a little embarrassed to say I missed 4.

The # in the House of Reps...I had it narrowed down to two, 50-50 shot...Loser.
    One about Ben Franklin.
And a couple other trick questions.

never understood the magic number of 435 House of Reps. It appears that it got there with a law in 1911 when NM & AZ were becoming states and got capped by law in the late 1920s. Hasn't changed since. I don't know if the size of the House (or the Senate) is a big deal. But when they stopped the Prez at having 2 full terms or up to 10 years when filling out an existing term and then getting elected twice on their own, they should have put in term limits for the legislative branch. 3-4 terms in the House and 2 terms as Senator. Then maybe some of these political fiefdoms may not exist or be as powerful. But because admending the Constitution starts in the legislative branch, that was never going to happen. And we live with the consequences of that chink in the Consitutional armor...

If I remember my civics class lessons, a long time ago, so please correct me if I'm wrong. The senate was two members from each state, so as to balance the power between small and large states. Somehow it was decided that the number of house seats would be determined by states population (based on the census every ten years). This mumble jumbo would balance the power? One of the many arguments, of not having term limits for congress is this gives small states and their elected representatives the ability to retain and hold powerful chairperson positions in the various committees. I personally believe this is "ripe" for political corruption to happen. I don't think senate or congress seats were ever supposed to be used as positions of power for life of a chosen few. Term limits should be utilized for all elected officials at the local, state and federal level. As new and "young blood" have fresh approaches to old problems.

Yes Ben invented the airplane, those brothers from Dayton, Ohio invented the jet plane, and Edison the rocket ship (I think).
