    Supply and Demand

During the winter here in Jersey we get a bit of snow, sometimes a debilitating amount. Some people cant get to the yard or the yards just closed. Since the yard is short of supply during those times, does the demand go up causing prices to rise ? What do you think ?

Missed the avatar, so I will answer the question the best I can in the members section. If anyone can correct this perspective or add to it, it would be appreciated.

You'd think it would but I don't think so since there just about everywhere. If a yard closes up north, stuff gets routed south(then again, some are networked like that so there's no net loss). Hope that answers your question.

Honestly, the avatar came with SMF as a stoxk photo they offered. Thought it was hilarious(which it is) but no problem taking it down. And i tgougbt about it, just because my yard in Camden, Nj closes or is slow, doesnt mean that anywhere else theyre like "****, Camden is closed ? Change Bare Bright from 2.85 to 4.00 !" It just wouldnt happen. Even though Camden with the Delaware river port is the largest fresh water port in the world...

And in all honesty, that picture for an avatar was randomly as a choice to pick. It wasnt a photo i supplied, or a file thats on my computer/phone. Sorry about that folks

Since the demands created at the mills and it takes time for the metal to get there, and thru several different hands and thru several different company's.
And since, when its cold up there in the northen hemisphere, its warm down here, I don't think prices would change much.

Prices do tend to drop just before Christmas here, by about ten percent maybe.
But that's more due to the Christmas break of a few weeks, that there's more nonferrous dropping into the market, which may sit for a extra fortñight before being moved on.
But that's the local prices in NZ. Not international.

Just took a look at the choices and there are several suggestive pics to choose from?!?!

The use of the word " fortñight" in a forum and not a book about the 1600's made my whole weekend. Thanks, Mike

I'm going to have to take the blame on that one

I had uploaded a few avatar packs over-time (in particular this "humor" pack), but didn't really think to go through them looking for anything objectionable.

I just deleted the "not very family friendly" ones.

I did get a good laugh though after looking through them for the few I had to delete, and realizing they have been there for members to select for over a year!
