I'm not a native either, funny how many non-natives call NW Arkansas home though. I go there as often as I can, compared to Southern Cal. "life in the fast lane". A Arkansas "slow dance" is much needed and love getting back into the woods doesn't happen as much as I want. Have a place on a lake (near Mena), will spend my last days there (someday). Don't imagine you get to lace up the skates much in Arkansas?
