You should be fine as long as you don't lick the inside of a CRT television or drink from a mercury thermostat or something crazy like that. A pair of skintight (?) gloves would be a must when dealing with
Ewaste. It keeps your hands from being cut up on the lead/solder points on the back of boards. I've gotten cut many times from boards and their components and I'm still here typing.
Oh, be careful about PCB's, you can find that nasty stuff in old ballasts and other OLD electronic stuff. I don't know much about em, but a few members here do.
