In NJ we have a black bear problem. More bears per square mile in the US. I recently ran into a 450 pound male while mountain biking (came 10 feet from him). There are no attacks, but still it is a big animal to deal with. I think a 55 gallon drum will get turned over and agree about locking it in the shop. The biggest we had here that was hunted last year was over 800 pounds. When 800 pounds gets hungry, it will push its way into anything it wants. Be careful.
This one was 776 pounds. Look at the size of its head.
