    Curb find of the Century

This weekend I was out walking and doing well sack of cans and some loose change when I ran across this neglected gem.
Singer model 27 In fairly decent shape for 105 years old think with a new belt and some rustoleum we'll be sewing before long,
no power cord it runs off Norwegian steam power

I had a 127 (sphinx on it), sold it on the last move, just nowhere to put it.

If it won't turn freely, oil it up and let it sit overnight...mine was frozen solid after sitting in a barn for awhile, took a lot of oil and good whack to the bottom. Be careful with solvents like 409 or windex on the gold leaf trim, it will turn it silver or take it off all together, you can usually get a lot of the dirt build up off just rubbing it with sewing machine oil.

    Congrats!

They are very cool, at least to an old guy like me. This is not a criticism and is not to poo poo the find, but is my experience with a White machine, with docs (sales receipt, instruction manual, warrantee card, and the factory refurb doc transition from peddle to electric). I advertised it on Craigslist for months and finally sold it to some guy that wanted to gut it and make an aquarium stand or something out of it. I hope you have better luck than I, but for me, it was an albatross. Good luck.

Good find. Go to some antique shops, they will give you a better idea of what you have and possibly an offer to buy. Possibly.

Nice find! And in my old hometown, even.

Thanks for everyones replies and advice since I have never been in the antique business. Talked to a secondhand shop and this one is 'over' priced at $119 machine only.
Like T00nces said most people part them out or convert to a table probably because it weighs close to 120lbs. Talked to some ladies that said husband probably brought it home
and wife kicked it to the curb.

I forgot to mention that after all that time, I took $25 for it and felt like I had taken him for a bit of a ride.

    Here is my old girl...

Around here, just the legs off those tables sell for $85-$120. They are in high demand for the upcycle steampunk folk...

Nice find. Laminate top is pretty roached, but the drawers sell for 15-20. Stand sells for 20 or so. Machine off the table is a nice bookshelf item. The parts are worth more than the whole.

That looks awesome to me too! I have one made by National in the early 1900's. I checked around here (central Florida) a few years ago and they all said that just about everybody had one back then, so there are plenty around. Like others here said people reuse the table for other things or maybe part it out. I spent a couple hours cleaning mine up and I'm just going to keep it for now. Good luck with yours, Mike

I love those old machines, so beautiful. Now, all you get is a basic plain white outside covering your guts!

I would take $25 for that all day. When I pick things up off the curb, i;ll take item to whatever shop I think would be interested and give them my bottom dollar. Very little work for $25. And I don't have room to sit on things waiting to get the best price.
