    Curb co & MPG

Now since I had a chance to be with a pick up
    for scrapping
    here is my feeling.
Fuel economy is what it's all about , if a pick up pulls 20 mpg you can make money on the hunt,
11 to 12 the gamble is not always in your favor ,
But big finds are easy to deal with using a pick up
    --------
Mini vans get good MPG so there great for hunting but some times you can't get things like a big oil tank
But a mini will always make a profit day in day out .
    ---------------
A pick up does well also but you need a tighter strategy , If you think your gonna just head into the hunt
you will find but as you find you really are just paying for fuel until real good luck goes down
The strategy is get some customers , create some sure things ,

    -----------------
So my advice is if your just a hunter type . MPG is the main importance .the better the MPG the more ground you cover the more you find .Id say a Mini with a trailer would be a fine choice . The S10 4 cylinder pickup with trailer probably is the ultimate

What I see is my years of experience have made me flexible from good mpg to So So mpg
a newbie learning the ropes and territory Good MPG is essential

I think this directly relates to my thread about keeping track of gas when driving around looking for scrap. Around here it is slim pickings so driving around for the sole purpose of look for stuff just doesn't seem to pay. Now if you are driving someplace anyway and take the long way to look on the way seems like that pays off. Just my opinion of course. Also around here CL is a bust because stuff gets snagged fast so it is usually a wasted trip.

Atm im getting ~ MPG... LOL no truck yet. Hopefully pull close to 20mpg on the highway. Probably closer to 10-15 in town if I drive nice.

As for CL, this is why I like kijiji (Canadian classifieds) they have their own mobile app and updates me if any scrap becomes available the second its posted.
If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all...

As long as the cost to insure a second truck is not to much
