So far it looks like it really is free with upsells geared toward a business with payroll and employees. I imagine I will need to put up with upsell emails but I can live with it for a free product.
I receive an email about once a month from "Sara from WaveApps" with some updates and that's literally about it. They don't force the paid options down your throat like you'd expect. I also like that you can customize invoices and estimates etc. That offers a lot in terms of flexibility. Easily the best part though are the reports. You can download or print reports for almost everything you can think of and that comes in really handy for tax time.
