The problem with gaming machines is that the boundaries are always being pushed. Take a look at a popular, modern game: Grand Theft Auto V (Five). The minimum CPU is a Q6600, which was a middle of the road LGA775 quad core CPU. Some of those boards may take a little more CPU, but there just isn't comparison to a newer i7 or AMD FX series CPU. Even the FX-4300 in my office PC should do better.
There just isn't much demand for LGA 775 boards anymore. I sell a 775 machine every now and then, but not too many. When you look at the cost of putting together a nicer AMD-based system, the 775 just can't compete anymore.
I can remember when the Core 2 Quad was the best out there. I guess I'm getting old....
