    You are...the power supply is inside the laptop any ALOT more difficult to replace if it is bad. Just like a desktop power supply it is internal to the computer. The laptop "cord" is just a power cable with a transformer (the rectangular box thing) that regulates the power from the wall socket. These are cheap and easy to get a replacement...the power supply for a laptop is MUCH harder to replace as you really need to know what you are doing...moreso than replacing a desktop power supply. Opening and replacing parts in a laptop is not for the faint of heart or the amature.
