    copper wire/ turnings is also good for gardeners to make more than scrap, there are many "slug shields" that are basically a ball of copper wire you place around the base of a plant stem or around a pot base. The other business sells these homemade 1/8 lb slug deterrents for $20 for 8 or tada $20 a lb

    way to use ebay to make some better than scrap money Mick.

    edit: thin wire will not work, thicker wire preferably with rough edges seems to do the trick though. Not exactly sure why the slugs can pass small wires but turn around instantly they get on the bigger stuff.
