I tend to keep stuff that i can see a future use for like angle iron, plate steel, all kinds of tubing, working electric motors, etc.. I also live with my dad who complains about my pile until it comes time that he needs a certain item and prices it out to order and i tell him i have it out in the pile and then he doesn't mind so much.
