    hey backwell.....nice to meet you.

i am on long island right now and am going to be relocating to bainbridge in about two weeks. i'm about to be 27 and have been scrapping for about 10 years, and i just came on the forum to make a post concerning the price difference between our locations.... you seem like the guy i need to talk to.

so how much of a difference in price should i expect between upstate and downstate?

the yard i go to down here is pretty great IMO, these are the prices i've been getting last 2 weeks...

    steel - 0.11
    iron - 0.15
    aluminum - 0.50
    aluminum siding - 0.65
    aluminum+copper fins - 1.10
insulated copper (any kind) - 1.25
    xmas lights - 0.20
    #1 copper - 3.00
    #2 copper - 2.75
    bright wire - 3.10
    brass - 1.70
    computer boards - 3.50
    computer memory - 8.00
    computer harddrives - 0.50
    power supplies - 0.25
    motors - 0.25
    sealed units - 0.15
    misc. electrical - 0.10
batteries (by the lb) - 0.20
    batteries (small-large auto) - 9.00-11.00 each

so whats the best yard around up there?

and do they care about things being "prepared" up there? the yards i am used to dont require much preparation, if any at all.

hope you have time to respond - thanks!

Looks like batteries pay less. It's $7 to $11 here. I haven't scrapped other types of metals recently enough but the car prices are $310 / ton with rims on right now which is nice.
