One thing I could say is for all those out there that scrap bikes, is to check for 80's to mid 90's BMX bikes, their is a cult following for these bikes and they can sell for a nice chunk of change. I parted out my child hood 86 GT Pro Performer for just over $600.

This is also so true in the UK, where BMX bikes and bikes such as The Chopper / Chipper & Tomahawk [all same family] from the 70's fetch ridiculous money in VGC. Ive seen these on sale in fashionable shops in London for £700.00
