I have read of people being prosecuted for selling aluminium cans sourced from a different state. (USA)
It was a large amount of $$ involved, semi truck loads, long prison terms & interstate laws broken.
I guess even in the states that to have a alloy can redemption setup that there's cans that get thrown out & not redeemed & so there's some sort of 'headroom' to absorb the cost of 'out of state cans'.
Still, its not something I'd do.

And, cans are redeemed for the same amount with or without the tab. If you take the tab off, you can sell the tabs as Aluminium for extra $.
Something I'd not do either. I think this is where the urban lefgenfs come from about "Can tabs being worth more than the whole can". ( lol. )
