A new way to promote your services

I just used a new service that the USPO has that I think can help some of you promote yourselves at a reasonable cost. You can now print your own flyer and target specific mail routes for $0.145 per flyer. You don't have to be a business to get this bulk rate.

I think this is a great way to test market one area without a large cost. For example I sent out 235 flyers to just one route and it cost $34.

It's called Every Door Direct Mail.

Here's a quote from the website:
Now you can tell the whole neighborhood what your business has to offer.

With Every Door Direct Mail® service from the U.S. Postal Service®, you can reach the market that matters most to your business: nearby neighborhoods. Postage is as low as 14.5˘ per piece – and you don't even need to know names or street addresses. You simply identify the neighborhoods you want to target, and your printed piece is delivered with the day's mail to every address.
I hope this info helps you'all make some money.

If it wasn't for the $ in $crap, it would just be.....

Thanks! Will be helpful to advertise the shave ice business as well. After 9 years in the same location I still get people who didn't know we were in the area.

Maybe I should do a flyer combining the scrap/shave ice businesses.. Bring a computer, get a large shave ice.

    Thanks.

I sent out the flyers because I was running for school board in a close race. I took 70% of the votes in the route where I sent the flyers. The mailing definitely was effective and I am now a new school board member.

About time we had a metal scrapper in office!

    Rusty,
I was reading the guidelines and on the site they said it has to be
Each mailpiece must be at least .007 thick (approx. 3 sheets of copy paper)

If that's true, how did you do that?

I had the flyers copied at Office Max and I think they used 65lb cover stock. In bright green. I'm not sure what the actual thickness is but the post office had no problem with it. I think they used this stuff: http://www.officemax.com/office-supp...ion~1^region~1

Thanks, that had me confused. I was thinking postcards after I typed it. But yea that'll probably work. I'm still contemplating, pockets are kinda low right now.
