It's not something I'd do, but I can see why so many do. I've bought vehicles for less than the cost of the new version of Photoshop!

I remember shelling the money out once. I'm getting my money's worth.

I'll never do SaaS, though (Software as a service). I want to own something, not pay eternal rent....

I agree, I would rather own it outright. The cost is prohibitive. I don't even know which products I really want to use. Marcus Jr. and I want to make some YouTube Videos. I figure I will pay the monthly fee and use them all. If I like them and find I can't live without them I will buy them. This way I will not end up with an expensive software suite I am not fully utilizing.
