Q: What can I find there?
A: Jobs, housing, goods, services, romance, local activities, advice - just about anything really.

    Q: What is craigslist?
A: Local classifieds and forums - community moderated, and largely free.

I see no mention anywhere on their about page, that it's only for joe homeowner. There is a reason your allowed to post Services, Buy/sell etc as either a DEALER or Private Seller. You can buy from the wanted section all you want as a business. Now if your putting up a offer to buy in the free section your doing something wrong. Or posting your services in the pet side...an your not a pet business.

I really want to know where you pulled this info, cause again..nothing on their site says anything like your post. I seriously doubt CL cares who posts there long as it's not illegal, or violate their ToS. They are a for profit business an are in this to make money. I'd really like to know where you pulled the info, once again. Cause it's nowhere on their page.

Just in case others would like to learn more about CL.

    https://www.craigslist.org/about/terms.of.use

    https://www.craigslist.org/about/factsheet

The only restriction I see anywhere on a business is that to post your "services" must be in the service section.

Thanks for sharing your opinion, but unless your name is Jim Buckmaster(ceo of CL since 2000) I'll continue to use their site as THEY intended, until they say otherwise.

Q: How many classified ads does craigslist receive?
A: craigslist users post well over 80 million classified ads each month (including reposts and renewals)

Cause those 80 million people are all one time posting, an not businesses or business related in any way.

Craigslist was designed to be a mostly free *their words* classified site to help people get their items, services, etc moved without relying on others. That is from their own site.

Till someone posts something from CL officially stating businesses an people who use it multiple times over time are not wanted I don't buy it.

An it seems to avoid being flagged one should have a paid ad. I think those only go for jobs an car buyers tho. Not your run of the mill postings. You can find more info on that on their help page.

More info on CL : Craigslist - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sirscrapalot - One of many who has misused CL for the last 15 years...go figure.

Yes, Sir, I am with you on this one ! Until i hear otherwise i will continue to use as i have is the past since it was online. Literally thousands of ads posted in all categories with only a few minor problems. ( Flags for no good reason)

I've had a good streak going for a while but last week a post for a large wheeled bin that dumps got flagged/deleted...didn't even get an email saying it was deleted. Weird got weirder when I was able to re-post, but it would never go live before being deleted again. Set up a whole new account with the same results. Other things I have posted since then have been fine. WTF...over.

Let me guess the coward sent it using an anonymous craiglist address? What a dope. People like that should have their isp cut off. Report it to cl and maybe they can track it back to the jerks ip address.

If they were stupid enough to use their own email, post it here and we can have some fun

Well of course it went through the relay system.. I can flag the email correct? So in the email at the bottom it has these options:
    Original craigslist post:
    XXXX
    About craigslist mail:
    XXXXX
Please flag unwanted messages (spam, scam, other):
    XXXXX

I would just click the last link up there to report the "LOSER" right?

Sledge and others, if you identify any potential targets of people flagging your ads and I'll go onto any CL city list and flag their ads. Maybe when they understand they'll get treated the same, they'll back off. I've always liked the quote by Sean Connery from the Untouchables about tit-for-tat the "Chicago way"...

Dakota- How do you find them? All I get from CL was that it was flagged.. never told by whom.
The email went through the relay system.. can't track the slimeball down with that either!

Sledge- Process of elimination?? I don't know how many people advertise on CL in a larger metro area for scrapping/hauling services but if there's one or two that never seem to go away and you don't know them, then maybe they're the ones flagging. Or if someone just starts and yours start to get flagged, then perhaps its someone to watch. Might have to gather some data points. Its sad that people can't just leave other folks alone. I'm sure that guy knows he can't haul it all...

Dakota: I find that true in every sect of recycling. There are probably 1500+ guys with a truck and trailer that haul cars in the Indy Metro area if I were to take a wild stab. No matter what people will try and flag your ad in a second because they don't even want to take the CHANCE that you may snag one they couldn't.. even though it is impossible for them to consume all that is out there.

You guys are giving the lurkers in the shadows too many ideas! Now my ads are getting flagged except I'm getting a message from the flaggin flagger, not the site. It's an email address that when I reply it tells me the message wasn't received but they keep emailing me. How does this work? The email account is personal and not affiliated with the site. How come they can email me but I can't reply?

Kinda like those phones calls you get but don't answer before it stops ringing
So you try and call back and get >> "This number is NOT in service"

HOW is that possible??? It just called me!

Hey, have you all heard of the phone scam where they just want you to pick up because its some unknown area code?? I guess they often come from some of the Caribbean islands. Anyway, just by answering the call is connected and somehow they can run up some big bills on your provider. I guess they bank on a lot of people either not looking at their phone bills and not willing to spend the time fighting the charges.

Sort of what happened to us back in the mid-90s when we were down in Mexico on our honeymoon. I called back the family a number of times thinking I was using my ATT calling card. Somehow a 3rd party was involved (something like "Overseas Operator Assistance, Inc" out of San Diego aka Mexico) and they charged outrageous time per minute. Our bill was around $425 total where my long distance back then was typically $50-100 a month (I know some of you young guys that have never paid a long distance phone bill must find that amusing that people used to routinely pay one). Anyway, I was surprised at the number of people I knew when I told the story that said, "well, you have to pay it". Not without a fight, I said. Once we got ATT to get off of our backs collecting for these muggers, we never heard another peep from them. We even offered them about $125 (which was what I figured it would have cost me really using the calling card). Silence...I guess their business plan were the people who wouldn't fight it.
